The general idea is for the vehicle manufacturer to have a single stationary battery of their own design, with a balance of all other batteries to be interchangeable with all the vehicle manufacturers participants.
The objective of the EV-Xchange concept is to have commonality on the interchangeable batteries physical shape, size, for all new electric vehicles. The interchangeable batteries will be placed in a rental pool through a car dealership, gas/energy station, creating additional income for car manufacturers and dealerships. The infrastructure is easy to be put in place.

Minimize the Waste of Natural Resources
The 12-volt battery has serviced the vehicle industry for over 100 years. The new generation of electric vehicles should follow similar guidelines to minimize waste of natural resources and facilitate recycling process.
If all the electronic devices, toys, utensils, tools, in use today, required their own specific battery size and shape, imagine the inventory and the waste of natural resources.

This would be the equivalent of the Volvo carrying 18% of 4900 lb, or 882 liters of gas weighing 118 lb less than the electric car, and with a range of 7300 km. Not very sensible.
For a daily commute of 60 km, a 15 to 20 kwh battery would be more than sufficient.
A travel range would increase to 100-125 km due to the weight reduction of the battery itself
(from 5900 LB to 5100 LB, a win for all participants).
